A 3-day game jam build. Team of two developers and one artist, racing against the clock to ship something coherent.
Game jams force a kind of architectural honesty: there’s no time to over-engineer, but there’s also no time to make a mess. We landed on a minimal puzzle framework — each puzzle is a scene, each scene shares a tiny core of input/animation/state, and the whole thing fits in a few hundred lines.
What jams teach
- Scope is the only knob that matters. Pick something boring and finish it.
- Polish 5 things, not 50. A jam build with three solid puzzles beats one with twelve broken ones.
- Sleep is part of the schedule. You can’t ship a fun game tired.
